Online Publicity – Best Resources For Articles And Online Press Releases

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Building links and online publicity is such an important aspect when you are creating a website. You can go out there and get 10,000 pr1 or pr 0 sites but then you go ahead and just get one link from Microsoft or Entrepreneur and if that link is going to stay, the benefit is, it only takes you one of those links to get all of the same benefit you may have got from all of those other links.

To give an example of that, I know someone who hosted an E-Biz show, it was hosted on a well known station. They’ve got a lot of internet radio shows on it. But they also host radio for a major shopping internet site who has radio services. It has hundreds of millions of members, but the important thing is, its home page cycles ten times. So every time you hit the refresh page, it cycles ten times. It may have changed since. Because it was hosted on a major site my site was doing well with the site’s home page. My page rank was five or six out of ten.

I didn’t know why. I didn’t know how, it didn’t matter. It was five out of ten. Because that site was linked to my radio site and the radio site was linked to my site. That enabled me to have a high page ranking. I rely on different ways than search engine ranking for people to find me. With online publicity it’s direct relationships, direct referral, word of mouth marketing, buzz marketing, all those sort of things are definitely publicity. The online articles are great because people can immediately click. The next is online press releases. The online press releases are great because if you use a service like prnewswire.com and you don’t use the free one, you use like the $80 to $100, they have different price ranges. But if you use a minimum of $80 you can make it onto the front page of Yahoo News, MSN.

I’ve done press releases for companies and we’ve had something like 127,672 views in a single 24 hour period to our website, for $80. This is in contrast to sitting down trying to figure out what’s going on behind the Google black curtain and sand box and getting slapped and doing the Google dance and everything else. You write a press release really well, a good headline, newsworthy, helpful information, and you drive 127,000 people to click on a link.

That’s the objective with online publicity. One of the things that I really like, is systems. What you really need to focus on first before you build your system is, what is the objective? Is the objective of your website to increase your credibility? Is the objective of your website to get people to sign up for your newsletter? Is the objective of your website to get people to click and buy? Whatever your objective is, you have to work your system. If you’re building a canal for ships, it is, I want the ships to go from Lake Ontario to Lake Eyrie. So I know the direction I’m going from, where I’m going to, do I want to blast through bedrock or do I want to dig through clay that I can easily take care of? I go a little bit longer route, but I get there just the same. The objective is gained, I save a ton of money, I don’t blow up two dozen people in the meantime.

Once you know what your objective is, then you can balance off what software you want to buy, what free stuff you want to use, how you’re going to do natural search engine ranking versus pay per click and your online publicity. If I did pay per click to get 100,000 clicks, even if I just got it down to a nickel, you do the math, that’s quite a bit of money versus $80 for a press release.

One of the other things you can do along the lines of publicity when you do those articles is send it to a syndicater. That syndicater takes that article and distributes it to other sites for you. So it’s something you can do once and then someone else is doing the work to distribute it for you.

So there are many ways to get publicity and drive traffic to your site. Choose the ones that work for you and you will have a popular site.

How To SEO – The Longtail

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

A ‘How to SEO’ session must look at the longtail. There is another thing to keep in mind when talking about keywords that people are searching for. Let’s say person 1 types in Sony camera into the search engine. Person 2 types in Sony camera handycam xpf250 hybrid. What do we know about the difference between these two people? Person 1 is getting a variety of Sony cameras because they’re probably doing research. Person 2 is a buyer.

Think of someone heading down a sales funnel, towards the sale. Each step they go down they are getting more qualified as they go through. When you go for longer tail keywords, you’re further down the funnel because you’re getting someone more qualified because they know what they are looking for now. I’m no longer a browser, I’m now a buyer.

It would be great to rank for Sony camera because you would get lots of traffic. Sony camera would get a lot more than some of these longer tail keywords. You need a balance. Going for the longer tail keywords can be more profitable on a per user basis. The benefit is for Sony camera we’re going to get a lot more traffic, and with the longer tail we are going to get less traffic but chances are they convert higher because they are buyers. For Sony camera we get 550,000, but for other ones like Sony Erikson k8001 camera, using free Google keyword tool, we get 590 searches. In this example we’ve got 590 versus 550,000. We’re talking a big difference in the number of searches. But the person searching the longer tail keyword is going to be a lot more qualified and it will be easier to rank for that. It’s going to be extremely competitive to rank for Sony camera especially when you think of some of the different websites you are going to try to rank against.

I think there is a good chance the Sony website will be ranking for Sony camera. Why? There are lots of people out there all over the internet linking to the Sony website with the word Sony.

This leads me to another point. When you are starting up a domain name, it’s a good idea to have your primary keyword in the domain name. For example, let’s take a soccer drill website. I probably went for soccer drill is because I think soccer drills, plural, is probably taken. The reason you have the keyword in there, is when people link to our soccer drill website, they link in a variety of different ways. People may link with just the keyword in the anchor text and they’ll link to other people who’ll link to our website with the URL.

When they’re linking to our website with the url. What are they doing? The keyword is there. It’s like they’re voting for our website and they’re also saying what our website is about by the keyword. There is speculation that, by having the keyword in the domain name, you will rank better than someone who doesn’t. It may or may not have a small increase but I think the reason the domain name with the keyword ranks better is not because the keyword is in there, but rather people are linking to the domain name and it has the keyword in it.

It is better to have the keyword in the domain name. Consider the Sony camera example. We can have many websites such as forums and camera forums, they might say I bought the Sony handycam and the Sony website is sony.com. They’re shooting a whole lot of links all over the internet and because that is a big brand name there are going to be hundreds of websites all linking back to the Sony website, all saying Sony. So there’s a pretty good chance it is going to rank for Sony camera. I’m sure people will be linking to Sony camera. So the Sony website is probably going to rank number one.

That’s why we&’re going to have a better chance if we go for the longer tail keywords. If you remember back to the way Google works, Google will rank your website based on a few things. First, what the web page says, so you want to do all the on page optimisation and second what other people say about your website. We might be able to rank for Sony camera handycam xpf250 hybrid because there may not be too many people linking to the Sony website with that keyword. But I think we could try and rank for that because we could build a page that optimized specifically for that keyword and then also via a link to that to say exactly what we want it to say. Build A Website The Right Way – Common Mistakes People Make

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

From a promotional point of view, there are quite a few different tactics you can use when you build a website. We use a system when we’re consulting with a client. Step one, we leverage off whatever we’ve got. We send any links off our own network to sites that we can do. Step two, we do some form of video marketing.

It iss customized each time, but essentially the general steps are take a look at existing resources. If they’ve already got a website or if they’re a franchise, for example, then there are other franchise sites. They have links off the mother ship so to speak. However, let’s just take a small independent business. They’ve had a website up online. They probably have little to no search engine ranking. One of the most beautiful things when you build a website is local search. It’s so huge. If you’re a barber shop, write barber and the city name. If you use this naming convention for your domain name then you’re laughing. So do it however you want to do it, so that’s an advantage.

We take a look at their existing site. We look at the mistakes they make on their website. Big mistakes on the website are generally, one, the banner is too big. Number two is the banner is not named, it’s just 1-2-3. jpeg, it’s not using the domain name or keywords. They don’t have the keywords in the alt tags or whatever it is for that. But their main thing, and this is important on YouTube and when you do internet radio, search engines are based on text. Write that down. So many people get excited about video and audio, make it and put it up but there’s no text to go with it. They don’t use their keywords well in their description of the video or the audio.

When we make an interview on radio let’s say, we make sure we write an abstract that’s a two to four sentence paragraph that has the keywords for the interview but also hopefully keywords related to what we do, which is get more customers. So, ‘Today we talk to Joe Blog about how to get more customers using color graphics. Then next week we’re going to talk about Joe Blow about how to get more customers using audio files.’ Each time that you post it, you get the keywords in there and it’s text.

So even though the audio is great and it’s a twenty minute interview or even an hour long interview, search engines cannot read that. So many times I see people put content on their site that’s just not findable, it’s not searchable because it doesn’t have a text that linked to it. A big mistake people make when they build a website is that people put pictures on their site. Say you’re at a conference, and you meet some famous person. You want to put a caption underneath the picture, ‘X meets y and talks about how to get more customers’ in the caption. Even when people do a Google search on images, they’ll find you.

The first two steps are obviously leveraging off what resources you’ve already got. Then you want to look at your own site, do whatever on page optimization you can which would be both SEO and also from a conversion point of view when you’re talking about the banners and things like that. Once they’re leveraged off what they’ve got, they’re cleaned up so that when the user hits that site they really do start driving some traffic. You’re getting some benefit which takes advantage of what is the focus of what we’re trying to do here? Why have you got this page up? We’re not just building a site for building a site’s sake. We want it to create leads or we want to go straight to the sale, whatever the case may be.

SEO Consulting Over Full Service: A New Trend?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Here in the States, difficult economic times has had a terrific impact on businesses of all sizes and shapes. Cutting back expenses has become the new American way of life for many companies nationwide. From shipping to management and everywhere in between, cost cutting has for many small businesses become a nightmare.

The one single area in these slow economic times that you DON’T expect to be able to save on is marketing & advertising. If anything at all, your company has probably chosen to INCREASE that particular part of the budget instead of cutting it, I’m guessing. If this is the case in your situation, and you are also struggling to attain good presence on the internet with a company website then there may be a small bit of good news.

I’m talking about an option that may be able to save you viable amounts of cash on your internet marketing expenses related to ‘SEO’ or ’search engine optimization’. If you have a website that’s tied to your business than you are very likely already familiar with these terms. The SEO process typically requires that you either hire an expert do this marketing work for you, or you take on the chore yourself. No matter which way you decide to do this it’s either going to be a large expenditure of your company time or your company funds. Now there seems to be a 3rd more user friendly option available which may be able to save you in both time AND money. It’s no cure all that will end your worries completely but it may be able to help you find your way through to the end of this long tunnel we’ve all been trekking through.

There’s a new kid on the block now, however. Well perhaps not really so new as rediscovered. Instead of opting for a full service seo company many smaller businesses and website owners are now choosing to go the way of Search Engine Optimization Consulting. There’s 1 main difference between ‘full service’ and ‘consultant’ type offerings worth mentioning. Consulting type offerings typically offer cost saving choices for your sales & marketing campaigns where full service offerings are known to provide more of an all or nothing deal.

What this means is that you will be offered you more flexibility on how much of the work you want him to handle for you while you take on the remainder of the work for yourself or your own staff. It then becomes a team effort split between your staff and the consultant. They also offer ‘analysis only’ services where they evaluate your website, tell you specifically what needs to be done to your site for higher search rankings and then you or your staff perform that work on your own. They may also offer personal training for those who want to learn how to run their own internet marketing campaigns themselves. Choices like this can provide major savings, especially for smaller businesses and new start-ups. It’s no wonder that Consulting is hot now.

Here’s an ethical seo marketing service that offers search engine optimization consulting for small businesses. They offer several good options for teaming up and excellent quality training programs.

Hiring An SEO Company: Page 1 Or Bust!

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Everyone who actually owns a website these days has heard of the term Search Engine Optimization, or SEO for short. This is supposed be the process of optimizing your website so that it can potentially rank higher on the search engines. Technically speaking it has nothing to do with the promise of increased traffic or sales, which is more in line with Internet Marketing. They are closely related of course, but still different and we should understand that premise before continuing.

If getting a high ranking on a major search engine is part of your plan for increasing traffic then you’d better make sure that page 1 is your only goal because truth be told that there is virtually no traffic to be found on page 2 and beyond, of this you can be sure. So then, it’s imperative when hiring an SEO company for your website that you can find their website listed on the first page of at least 1 major search engine for at least 1 or more relative keywords or phrases related to their industry. Make no exceptions to this rule.

Too many times I’ve heard the excuse that it’s the “shoe salesman who has kids at home with worn out shoes” syndrome. Don’t buy into it, just say NO! You’re going to have to pay a lot of money up front and this is a pair of shoes you will not be able to try on before buying so at least make certain that your SEO company in question is at least ranking well themselves, regardless of some pre-determined (and possibly ill motivated) references they may hand you.

But honestly, who can put any real faith into a list of provided references these days? The only sure way of knowing if an SEO expert is worth his salt is to judge him by his own website’s page 1 rankings. While page 2 for a highly competitive phrase may SEEM ok be aware that if this is what YOU end up with it won’t bring you any traffic. That’s right, page 2 listings in most cases will produce little to no traffic at all.

As far as search engine traffic is concerned, page 1 is where it’s at, pure and simple. If you end up talking with someone you really like but they’re not on page 1 then be insistent on only hiring them if their rates are based upon some pre-determined results instead of all cash up front. Either way, this is your best bet.

Here’s an SEO Company that ranks on the first page of Google for several popular key phrases in that industry. They’re the Best SEO Company for small businesses and they charge according to your results.

Basic SEO Methods For Bloggers

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

It seems like everybody is into blogging these days. That’s why to make yours more popular than the others, traffic must be directed to your site. And it’s in this area is where SEO comes in very handy.

SEO stands for search engine optimization. When used in the right manner, it can make your blog site race to the top of search engine result listings. Most people who search for something on Yahoo! or Google click on the very first link presented. Just imagine the traffic your site can generate should it make it to the top of the list, or anywhere really close to it.

If you’re a frequent blogger and you want more readers, fret not. The following are just some simple SEO techniques. By applying them in the right fashion, it’s not unlikely your thoughts will reach more readers.

In building your blog site, try to come up with a solid theme or identity. This way, those you are catering to will find your posts interesting, and your following will snowball. Such also keeps you from sending contradictory signals to search engines.

When creating a blog entry, make sure you place the keywords in the title tag. Better yet, include it in the title of your blog itself. For instance, you can incorporate “make money at home” in the title that the phrase looks natural there. Likely, there are people keying in the very same phrase in search engines. So there’s a big chance for your post to make it to the top of the list generated.

Aside from placing keywords in the titles, you can start by making the titles attention-grabbing. It’s in this style why people can’t resist picking up tabloids from newsstands. Intriguing headlines sure will catch anyone’s fancy. So to get blog readers’ curiosity, use titles that will elicit such from them.

Needless to say, it’s important for a wonderful title to be accompanied by a wonderful body. If not, its not readership or popularity you’re gaining. But bounce rates – the number of people going to your site, and immediately leaving. To be a good blogger, of course you need to be a good writer. Then you should also learn the art of placing your keywords in what you write.

When placing keywords in the main body of your blogs, never do an overkill. Not only will your readers get annoyed by the spamming approach, but your blog will look unnatural. Pro bloggers maintain their keyword use at 2-3 times. This makes it much easier for web crawlers to spot them. To make them easily spotted by readers, you can bold, underline or italicize them.

When choosing a topic on what you’re blogging about, consider those that will catch anyone’s fancy. It can be controversial, mind-boggling, funny or even silly. It can be related to current events – politics, calamities, show business, music and many more.

Post links to your blogs in social networking or bookmarking sites. Also, read and place comments in other people’s blogs. When you apply all these basic SEO methods, it may take some time before you see significant results. After all, it’s not something instant; it takes commitment and persistence.

Search Engine Optimization, everyone these days are using it. All the “cool kids” are doing it, but what about SEO software? Not only because all of those “cool kids” are using it, but because all of the “successful” ones are. Http://www.seoequalizer.com

Link Building For SEO

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Ig goes without saying that link building for seo is very important. I want to talk about link reputation and link popularity. When we think of links getting fired to your website, there are two factors that we need to take into account, link reputation and link popularity. Link popularity has to do with how many links, or how strong the links are. It’s important to have high link popularity. The other thing that is important is reputation. We can have lots of links pointing to the website, but unless they’re pointing to the website with the right word, they’re not going to be that important.

What is a reputation? Reputation is what people say about you. What the links are saying about you is the link reputation, whereas link popularity has to do with how many links we’re getting. It’s important to have good link popularity and good link reputation.

Let’s consider ways to get inbound links. We’ll start with what I consider to be the best and easiest way. First there are articles. Articles are fantastic because there are articles directories across the internet and there are websites that collect people’s articles, almost like a repository of articles where people will go and submit articles. For submitting the article, you get to put something in what is known as the resource box. At the bottom of all articles there is a resource box, and usually it is something that points back to the author.

You can point your articles back to your website. You might go off to an article directory, and one of the best ones is EzineArticles.com. You publish your article and the resource box you link back to your website. You would make sure you have your keyword in the resource box and link it through and also you might have the url. It varies depending on the site. Some sites will let you have more links in there, and other sites will let you have fewer links there.

Articles are the best thing to do. You can get articles written- there are article services out there. You can go to rentacoder, you can go to needanarticle. You can get articles written for you, keyword optimised already and then you can publish them. An important point is that it is better to have these articles keyword optimised, and here’s why. First, you might be able to get that article to rank itself off the back of ezine articles. You might get it to come up in the search engine and rank for the keyword you are optimizing for. That’s why it’s important to have it optimized.

The other reason builds on the idea of link reputation. A link that comes from a page, if that page is on topic, is important. Let’s say we had two articles, one on dog’s health and one on the best wine. The link about wine is coming from a page about wine, so it is more important. But the real reason is, if you optimize you might get ranked in the search engine and you also might come up higher on the article directory itself. The article directory has its own search features. This can be a key feature of your link building for seo strategy.
